In three of the units (Units 2, 9 and 11) the video clipaccompanies the Study Skills section, and focuses onkey skills students need for English studies, academiclife and careers (listening to lectures and talks; makingpresentations; taking part in discussions in a group).Each of these clips provides a model for the studentsto view and analyse, and the accompanying materialfocuses attention on the language used and thecommunication skills on display (including non-verbalcommunication, such as gesture and body language). They learn keyphrases for participating in andmanaging a group discussion,and also look at some of thebody language the speakers areusing to take turns and signalagreement and disagreement.11 Arts and Media11 Delivering apresentationStudents watch two presentationsabout an arts festival: a badone and a good one. Studentsassess what the bad presenterdoes wrong, and what the goodpresenter does right. They learnsome expressions for organisinga presentation and then practisecreating their own.
