OSMC is well known for its ease of installation. To get started, simply select your current operating system to download the device installer. This will allow you to create a bootable image for any OSMC supported device.
Click on it and a list of available releases will appear. You will want to select and download the latest image for Raspberry Pi 2 / 3 / 3+: (Optional) Compare the md5 sum (in Windows it is under Properties > File Hashes).
Download Kodi Raspberry Pi Image
There are many different applications that will let you create a bootable micro SD card from the .gz image you have just downloaded. I use Etcher, which is a free open source software utility. Etcher is available for Linux, Windows and Mac OS X.
Open Etcher (or whatever utility you are using to burn the image) and select the image file that you just downloaded. Ensure that the target is the micro SD card (Etcher is pretty good at figuring this out by itself).
I could not get Pi2 cards to work in Pi3 so downloaded new image and did sudo apt-get update/upgrade.Easiest way to get KODI on to Pi3 with Raspbian is sudo apt-get install kodi- good point about the power supply as well- I got one specifically for Pi3 from RS components
XBian can be installed using our installer available for Windows, OS X and Linux. If you are using a different operating system you will have to download a XBian image and restore it to your SD card. If you are new to XBian we suggest reading getting started.
In order to install LibreELEC on Raspberry Pi3, we first need to visit the download section in the LibreELEC website. Scroll down until the you reach the DIRECT DOWNLOADS section, select Raspberry Pi v2 and Raspberry Pi v3, and click on the LibreELEC-RPi2.arm-7.0.3.img.gz (latest available version) link to download the image.
While the LibreELEC image is downloading, we need to download an app for writing the image to the SD Card. I am using Etcher because it also performs validation after writing the .img file and it has a really easy to use interface. In order to download it, just go on etcher.io site then click on the arrow next to the Download for Windows button, then select the portable version for Windows.

A Chrome OS recovery image much be downloaded from which the Widevine CMD is extracted. This can take a while to download and extract, so let the Raspberry Pi work at its own pace, following any requests OSMC displays to complete installation.
Head to XBian's website and download the right file for your operating system. If you're using an OS besides Windows, Mac, or Linux, you'll have to download the XBian image and extract the disc image to the SD card as you would with any other OS. Here's a quick walkthrough of that process.
The easiest way to get Kodi up and running on the RPi is via a Linux distribution specifically made for running Kodi. Kodi's official site lists a few options, including the "just enough OS," LibreELEC. To install this distro, simply download the LibreELEC USB-SD Creator tool(Opens in a new window) (available on Windows, macOS, or Linux) and choose the correct image for your generation RPi. Then, you select the removable SD card that you plan to use with your RPi as the target.
As of Alpine 3.14, the WiFi drivers for the Raspberry Pi were moved from linux-firmware-brcm to the linux-firmware-cypress package (source?). Since the images seem to be an outdated version of the former, Wi-Fi will work during installation, but after the first update it will break.Use the ethernet interface to download the required packages: 2ff7e9595c
